This study sought to derive the direction for improvement of the framework for social studies text books in elementary school at the stage of implementing changes to the system of publishing textbooks into a screening and approval system. French Textbooks are issued with a certificate and recognition system. The revised French curriculum emphasizes competence, and the presentation style and amount of learning were adjusted. Accordingly, the allocation of pages to raise students'capacity can be seen in the textbook system. As a result of the analysis, this study suggests self-directed learning by organizing subject and scene and competency learning in a concrete and phased manner. Second, it is suggested to organize the data into systematic questions so that it can be read, applied, evaluated and aggregated. Third, data such as maps and photographs should provide sufficient information. Finally, appropriate use of colors and symbols in the text is suggested. Through such continuous research on the development of textbooks, it is the hope of the authors that Korean elementary social studies textbooks will become good textbooks.
