In early March 2020, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as a global pandemic. Since then, the infectious disease has significantly changed the ways of life of people across the world. Notably, among the many problems caused by the pandemic, the issue of education has come to the fore from a sociological perspective. This paper aims to analyze the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on Korean language education. The main points of the thesis are as follows. First, it investigates the influence of that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the system of Korean language education. Second, it determines the types of interactions that have been put into practice in cases of Korean language courses that operate in a non-face-to-face manner. Third, it examines the kinds of responses exhibited by learners in Korean language classes conducted in non-face-to-face platforms. To this end, a questionnaire survey was administered. The basic principle is that the language should not be regarded as a separate and independent object, but instead, according to ecolinguistics, as the linguistic corpora that interact with surroundings. In addition, the concept of the interaction and its catergories were accordingly established. Upon obtaining the result of the analysis in the conclusion of the thesis, several topics worthy of examination, which are related to the modality of non face-to-face Korean language class, have been suggested from the perspective of ecolinguistics.
