인공지능 기술 발달로 미래를 살아갈 모든 학생들의 기초 소양으로서 인공지능교육의 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 인공지능(AI)교육은 인공지능의 기본 원리와 기술에 관한 이해를 토대로 다양한 분야의 문제를 해결할 수 있는 역량을 함양하는 데 중점을 두고 있다.
고등학교 학생에게 고차원적 사고력과 창의적 문제해결력을 기르는 탐구활동은 매우 중요한 교육활동이다. 탐구활동은 다양한 교과에서 중요시되고 있지만, 특히 고등학교 정보 과목의 성취기준을 살펴보면, 실생활의 복잡한 문제를 추상화하고 작은 문제로 분해하여 모델링하여 문제를 해결하는 탐구의 과정을 포함하고 있다. 또한 자료와 정보 영역에서도 대량의 데이터 수집과 시각화 분석 등을 다루고 있어 탐구활동이 교육과정 내에서 충분히 이루어질 수 있다.
