The purposes of this study was to analyze the determinants of the satisfaction of visiting Mokpo city by tourists through big data analysis. By analyzing the variables that affect the satisfaction by tourists in the southwestern region of Jeollanam-do, it presents implications that Mokpo City, a maritime city and a tourism hub city, should pursue. Data for this study were collected from July 1 to July 31, 2019. The conclusions are as follows. First, factors affecting the satisfaction of Mokpo tourism include not only the resources located in Mokpo City but also the tourism resources included in neighboring cities. Second, it is necessary to be reborn as a hub city for marine tourism in Jeollanam-do by benchmarking Busan city. Third, as shown in the word cloud results, the factors that influence Mokpo tourism extracted through big data are too simple such as Jeollanam-do, Naju, Busan, angel bridge, Yeosu, Muan, Sinan, Gwangju, and islands. In order for Mokpo City to be established as an international marine tourism city, it is significant to promote Mokpo City’s attractiveness and to discover Mokpo City’s unique tourism resources. As one of the follow-up studies, an analysis of causal relationship with satisfaction of Mokpo tourism should be performed based on the key terms derived from frequency analysis.
