Report Errors
According to “The History of the Three Kingdoms,” Wolji Pond was made in the 14th year of King Munmu (674), and Donggung Palace in the 19th year of King Munmu (679). The excavation data also confirmed that the records were reliable.
However, there are differences over the timing of the construction of the southern and western buildings and the use of the sites. There was no detailed review of the system of receiving and receiving.
Therefore, this paper wanted to review the excavation report and solve the two questions previously presented. Then we looked at what tasks were essential for further excavation and research.
As a result, the construction time of the two building sites was believed to have been built in the south before the west. The building sites in the south were constructed during the construction of Wolji, and the building sites in the west were later constructed.
The water intake was used again to supply water to the pond-shaped moat of Wolseong Fortress. After reviewing the results of the radar survey, a separate reservoir was built in the southeastern part of the Wolji Pond to purify the water supplied to it.
Drainage was connected to Balcheon, which existed before the creation of the Wolji Pond, and it is confirmed that part of the stream was buried when the Wolji Pond was made.
It should also consider pushing for the excavation again if necessary for further study of the survey data. Only then will we be able to redefine the status of Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond.
