This research on the current state of re-education programs that are expanding and taking place in various institutions provides data on skills and service performances of beauty artists from such programs. Examining the relationship between internal and external preferences of beauty artists provides baseline data for improving the future quality of re-education programs. First, the re-education demographic primarily consisted of unmarried women in their twenties with work experience between one and three years. Most of them earned an average monthly income between 1,000,000 KRW and 2,000,000 KRW. Second, 1~3 times more people received re-education at franchise facilities than at private institutions. Participants used personal funds to regularly attend re-education programs at professional institutions for the purpose of enhancing their skills. Third, both franchise and private institutions did not affect skills utilization while having a positive impact on service utilizations. On the other hand, internal preference affected skills utilization in both franchise and private institutions while franchise institutions did not affect service utilization. Implications from this research indicate the need for re-educational programs that encourage participants to gain personal satisfaction while attaining practical skills, professionalism and reliability that can result in positive encounter with clients. The objective of this research then is to provide a foundation for future research on revitalizing re-education programs.
