The purpose of this study is to review the limitations as well as the social role and performance of Namdang"s Confucian concept which had regarded justification and loyalty as an essential idea by re-examining Lee Geun-ju"s struggle for independence and the spirit of loyalty for his country.
Through the implementation of this study, we can see a part of his spiritual world that was upright and respected integrity. In particular, his loyalty was verified to be in line with Namdang"s scholarly lineage that measured the integrity and fecundity as great causes based on the fact that he used the banner of “Jonhwayangeecheoksabujeong” as a source of self-determination and that he liked Mencius"s spirit of loyalty. Namdang who is a forest-type scholar, tried to establish a just society that he had gravely pursued by distinguishing various national challenges through his unique philosophical arguments.
