The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of grit of hotel cooks on their job performance and turnover intention, develop relevant theoretical models, and find out the job performance and turnover intention of grit and hotel cook through empirical analysis. Through this, I would like to suggest implications for the development of an efficient program that can enhance the cook"s grit in the hotel industry management.For the purpose of this study, the final 321 questionnaires were sampled for the chefs of the first-class hotels in Seoul.
The verification results are as follows. First, the Perseverance of effort grit factor of hotel chefs has a significant negative effect on job performance, which is the result of consulting previous studies in other industries. On the other hand, the Consistency of interest grit factor was found to have a positive effect on job performance. Second, hotel cook"s Perseverance of effort grit has a negative effect on turnover intention. This is the same result as the previous study. On the other hand, Consistency of interest grit has a positive effect on turnover intention. This is different from most previous studies.Third, the hotel chef"s job performance had a positive effect on turnover intention. This result is different from the general previous studies. The majority of previous studies have shown that high performance generally affects turnover intention and negative (-), but in this study, high job performance translates into high turnover.
In conclusion, individual type of grit is important for improving the hotel chef"s job performance, and in order to influence turnover intention, it should be preceded by two of grit factors, Consistency of interest and Perseverance of effort. In addition, the individual grit of the hotel chef is identified, suggesting the need for appropriate education and programs.
