In developing the traditional virtue ethics into a form that corresponds to the facts of moral psychology, Christine Swanton insists that virtues in children belong to the virtues relative to stages of life which are genuine virtues. In this study I shall examine whether one needs to introduce the virtues relative to stages of life or not in order to reflect the moral psychology of virtue development and resolve the problems of virtue ethics related to action judgment. For this I shall insist that it is not appropriate to admit the virtues relative stages of life as genuine virtues as Swanton does since it comes to weaken the intrinsic goodness of virtue and its normativity. Then I shall show that although Aristotle may recognize the virtues relative to development he distinguishes these virtues from the genuine virtue which holds the intrinsic goodness of virtue and its normativity. The next thing of my examination is to reveal that Aristotle"s virtue ethics does not overlook the context in which the virtues relative to development are required because it can reflect the situations through the mean and also insist on the lifelong development for virtue. In addition, I shall argue that Aristotle thinks much of action judgment along with agent judgment and so he gives his own answers to the problems of action judgment in virtue ethics.
