This article discusses the novel Tidak Ada Esok (TAE) by Mochtar Lubis, author. This novel not only describes the physical struggles of the figures, but also their moral struggles and inner struggles. Therefore, research on the characters of the figures in this novel is very important to be done. The first method has been use is to look at the characters of the figure, which is presented both directly and indirectly in the text. Directly through traits that are exploited by the text, and in other hand directly understood by the reader through depictions of the speech, thoughts, actions, external appearance, and the environment of the figures. There are two figures who are the focus of on the discussion, namely Hassan and Johan. Based on the research was found that Hassan was an educated nationalist who consciously chose to live as a warrior. He equipped his soul with patience and prepared physically through military training. Hassan knew and understood various problems that faced the struggle of his Nation. However, a wide range of issues did not diminish Hassan's enthusiasm for fighting, because he believed that he was fighting on the right path and believed that his nation would win this war. With this wide confidence, he appears as real warrior full of principle and brave on the battlefield. Hassan had never complained about the pain that had struck him, even before the death of him. The second figure, Johan, is described as a humanist, seeing the problems he faces in side of humanity. Johan threw himself into the struggle so that his life was meaningful. Starting as an unstable man who was easily influenced by people in his environment, Johan then decided to free humans from various forms of fear and as free as a bird. The change in Johan's life point of view was influenced by his friendship with Hassan. The Meaning of this story on this Novel can be used as a basic building in life of state and nation well through the self-reflection of political actors. The figure of this novel character can at least be amusing of politicians and leaders to be able to do the best for the country and nation.
