“Singi” was developed from a cross between Baegunkong and Shinpaldalkong 2. A breeding line, SS92108-34-4-1, was selected and evaluated in yield trials from 1998 to 2000 at National Crop Experiment Station, Suwon. It was designated as Suwon 216 and tested for local adaptability in nine locations from 2001 to 2003. Shingi has determinate growth habit, purple flower, brown pubescence, yellow testa and light brown hilum color. Its leaf shape is oval. It is resistant to Soybean mosaic virus and other most troublesome soybean diseases, which are bacterial pustule and black root rot. Especially, Shingi has suitable characteristics, which includes plant type with lodging and shattering resistance and adaptability for mechanized harvesting. The average yield was 2.36 MT/ha in the regional adaptation yield trials on nine locations.
