Anseongbyeo is a japonicaseed weight of three near-isogenic lines of blast resistance. The recurrent parent, Suweon345, was a high-quality and semi-dwarf rice cultivar with susceptability to neck blast. The blast-resistance donors for each liens were SR1264-2, Daeseong-byeo and Suweon365, respectively. The growth duration of this cultivar is 112 days from seeding to heading in ordinary cul-ladeand slightly stiff culm with god canopy architecture. Anseongbyeo has similar number of tillers per hill and a few more numberof spikelets per panicle compared with Hwaseongbyeo. It shows less sensitivity to premature heading in late transplanting with70 days old seedlings. It is slightly les tolerance to both heading delay and grain sterility than those of Hwaseongbyeo at cold-nation during the ripening stage. It is moderately resistance to leaf blast, but susceptible to neck blast, bacterial blight, stripe virusand insect pests. Miled grain of Anseongbyeo is translucent and clear. Its endosperm is non-glutinous and the grain is slightlysmaller and bold type. It shows low amylose content of 19.4% and gelatinization temperature with good palatability of cokedability test in the central lowland and mid-mountainous areas for 3 year period. This cultivar would be highly adaptable to thecentral lowland areas of Korea.
