This study’s primary objective was to examine how emotional labor, emotional display rules sub-factor, and primary teachers’ burnout were related to each other. In addition, the study researched differences of burnout based on naturally classified clusters from the interaction between emotional labor and emotional display rules sub-factor. The subjects of this study were 320 elementary teachers based in the Incheon and Kyeonggi area. The collected materials were processed by SPSS WIN 18.0 and a correlation analysis was conducted in order to discover the relationship among variables (emotional labor, emotional display rules, and burnout). The study then performed a two-step cluster analysis in order to define the cluster pattern, and also carried out a one-way ANOVA so that it could discover the difference in the level of burnout by cluster. The results are as follows. Firstly, the reviewed results highlighted four types of groups including Recognition-type, Consumption-type, Active-type, and Unconcern-type. Secondly, burnout was shown to be higher in the Consumption-type comparing with Recognition-type, and Active-type at level of 0.001. Results from the current study were discussed with regard to relevant findings in the extant literature. In other words, it is found that burnout frequently occurred in the cluster which mainly does surface acting and perceive emotional display rules, but not familiar with perception of emotional display rules training, latitude, and fairness. Limitations of the current findings as well as the suggestions for a future study were also included.
