]Since the 16th century the ruling system of Joseon was on the point of danger in the subsistence of the nation if it would not be renovated.The king did not keep a true mind toward the people's life and he pretended it only. What is worse, he never had the will and capacity for surmounting the crisis.A large number of intellectuals also were deficit volitions to rectify positively such a condition at that time. As for them, they indulged in doctrinarianism be removed from realities. As if Confucius also scolded such a people before, he said that if anyone learn but not practice, it is insignificant.In those days, Jo shik was faithful to Righteousness (義) that was an external and practicul moralty through cultivation of the mind which was Sincere Modesty for Truth (敬).He was a true practical Confucian who pointed out evil practices by the government and he claimed to make better those things at the same time, on the standpoint for the people's life.(Daegu University/js-2288@hanmail.net)
