This paper examines previous studies on <Jeongeupsa> and scrutinizes Buddhist characteristics and moon of the poem. Primary results are as follow. First, Goryeo folk music songs are seen as lewd language in Royal Chronicles of Seongjong and Royal Chronicles of Jungjong of Chosen dynasty. This is due to ideological valuation of Chosen's noble class. Even though a concession is made for Chosen's noble class, <Jeongeupsa> is far from their measure of lewd language. Second, songs dealt in Royal Chronicles of Jungjong for their words are chapters used in Hakyunwhadaecheoyongmu taken to Narye poems. People in Chosen time regarded <Cheoyongmu>, which drives out demon, as weird happening, discussed its abolition and finally replaced it with other poems at the 13th year of Jungjong. <Jeongupsa> was continued to be song because it was in harmony with the substance of Narye ceremony in that they brighten wicked temperament and darkness and desire to meet a bright new year. Third, <Jeongeupsa> may related to the content of the volume 7 of Myobupyunwha sutra. Also, work of a poetess in Heian period(平安時代) of Japan contains almost same story as <Jeongeupsa>, which makes comparison with this work and <Jeongeupsa> possible. Considering above arguments, the substance of <Jeongeupsa> may be a song praying Buddha to protect husbands travelling for sales from every dark roads.
