This paper investigates the group of special denominative postpositions in their origin and syntactic “behaviour” and solves the problem of its specific comparing with other Manchu-Tungusic languages. Special denominative postpositions are those having etymologically nominative stem and markers -fa or -ihi in their structure. Existence of special denominative postpositions in Udihe distinguishes it from other Manchu-Tungusic languages: e.g. in Nanaj, Ewenki, Orochi such lexemes function only as adverbs. Only in Udihe special denominative postpositions correlate with adverbs in sense of forming homonymic pairs: adverb―special denominative postposition. One of the main characteristics of the special denominative postpositions comparing with the group of serial denominative ones is that they combine with the independent word by juxtaposition. In type of the syntactic combination they are similar to de-verbal postpositions. Thus, postpositional phrase acquires the form: independent word (non-case form) + special denominative postposition.
