Dear Editor, Bone marrow chimerism (BMC) develops after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantion (HSCT); however, BMC is also associated with graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) following liver transplantation, which has an incidence rate of 0.1-2% and a mortality rate exceeding 75% [1]. Therefore, detecting BMC is also important in solid organ transplantation (SOT) as well as HSCT, and accurate quantification is needed, especially in case of clonality distinction of minimal portions. This study aimed to introduce the significance of BMC in SOT, by using conventional short tandem repeat (STR)-PCR [2-4] and next generation sequencing (NGS), through relative quantification of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP).
