This study was intended to develop the inquiry module to study environmental pollution using Rapid-cycling Brassica rapa(RcBr) for the elementary school students and to examine its effects on their environmental attitude, concepts of environmental pollution, science process skills, and science related attitude. The modules were designed so the students grew RcBr, formulated a hypothesis for the environmental pollution, designed the experiments and solved the related questions by themselves. The subject was one class of C elementary school in Seoul, consisting of 31 sixth grade students, who were taught by the environmental pollution inquiry modules and changes in their environmental attitude, concepts of environmental pollution, science process skills, and science related attitude were investigated. There was a statistically meaningful improvement in students' environmental attitude by the students, especially in the areas of “General Environment”, “Environmental Pollution” and “Recycling”. More diverse and concrete concepts regarding environmental pollution were shown after the application of the modules. There was also a statistically significant improvement in science process skills by the students, especially in the areas of “Observation”, “Classification”, “Deduction”, “Expectation”, “Data Transformation” and “Hypothesis Creation”. There was a statitiscally meaningful improvement in the science related attitude by the students, especially in “Attitude to Science Inquiry”, “Pleasure from Science Class” and “Interest to Science as a Hobby”. The developed modules using RcBr will provide students with effective and valuable resources for the environmental education.
