This research observed the morphological change and ultrastructural change of hair after having straight permanent on the twenty years old of woman’s virgin hair through the scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The straight permed hair was observed that the cuticular cells of cuticle layer around the surface lifted off. Also, some cuticular cells were destructed to be off. The endocuticle of cuticular cell has formed 500 nm of holes toward the longitudinal line of cuticular cell, and some of these holes were united to have the diameter of 1 μm~1.5 μm. Cortex has formed lots of holes in line with membrane of cortical cell, especially there were the holes among the limited membrane of peripheral part of melanin granules and of macrofibrils. These holes were distributed mainly around the exocortex near the cuticle layer more than the central part of cortex, where much more holes than in the cortex of virgin hair were formed.
