Hairs are changed in various factors such as age, UV radiation, perm wave and coloring. So that, in this study physicochemical properties and morphological change of hair were investigated in 32 spenders of infants and childhood by measurement of hair thickness, tensile strength, water swelling and alkali solubility, breadth and thickness of cuticle and observation of morphological change in cuticle and cortex. In the result, thickness and tensile strength of hair increased significantly in male and female of childhood in contrast to infants (p<0.05), and both parameters were higher in male than in female. Breadth and stepping of cuticle decreased in childhood? in contrast to infants. Water swelling increased in childhood but alkali solubility was decreased. A clear separated EndC and ExoC was observed in hair cuticle of 10 years old male as childhood sample, more vacuoles and diffuse melanin granules were shown in hair cuticle of 18 months old male as infant sample than that of 10 years old male by SEM and TEM observation. Hair thickness, tensile strength and water swelling increased and alkali solubility decreased in hair of childhood. In conclusion, physicochemical properties and structure of cuticles and cortex on hair may be changed very rapid in childhood.
