A bound-root, which is a floating category between morphological and syntactical categories and also with limited distribution, shows various aspects as it becomes free-rooted. Thus in actual language usage, the bound-root reveals various morphological and syntactical characteristics, and also appears as a mixture of characteristics of various parts of speech. As a result, the intuition for these grammatical categories appears differently to each individual. This article includes a description of various aspects considering the process of a bound-root becoming a free-root based on a corpus, and proves how their characteristics apply to the intuition. There was no consideration of floating category including bound-root in the previous grammar teaching comparing to the proportion that bound-root has in Korean. In other words, the previous grammar teaching has been focusing solely on teaching grammar knowledge that it did not consider the actual appearance of the language itself and failed to notice the constituents that is beyond the contemporary grammar system. Based on this, this article emphasizes that the goal of grammar teaching should be understanding and researching of the nature of a language. Further, this article suggests that floating categories such as bound-root should be applied to grammar teaching through using materials that vividly show the nature of a language and demonstrates that language is always changing.
