This article deals with the characteristics of Mosley’s Fascism. The purpose is to find out the characteristics of Mosley’s Fascism to distinguish this thought from other ‘Fascisms’. We can find German Nazism and Italian Fascism on the continent and British Fascism like the British Fascists and the Imperial Fascists League in Britain as well as Mosley’s Fascism. This article suggests 6 particular aspects which make Mosley’s Fascism different from other Fascist versions. 1) Mosley’s Fascism was heavily influenced by various kinds of British Socialism like Fabianism, Guild Socialism, Syndicalism and Blatchford’ idea. 2) Mosley’s Fascism was created as a prescription for the economic problems in Britain and proceeded from a perspective based on the realities of British capitalism. 3) Mosley’s Fascism didn’t argue anti-semitism on the basis of racism. When Mosley criticised Jews, the criticism was directed just to the Jews who acted against the interests of Britian. 4) Mosley’s Fascism denied any aggressive political violence. Mosley didn’t have any intention to achieve political goals by violence. 5) Mosley didn’t admire war and opposed it explicitly. Fascism was regarded as a theory for the prevention of war for Mosley. 6) Mosley’s Fascism had its own view for the social status and political role of women in Fascist state. These 6 aspects show us that Mosley’s Fascism is somewhat unique Fascism that can’t be absorbed into the generic Fascism. Thus we should understand Mosley’s Fascism as a special kind of Fascism that was contrived responding to the British environments and problems in the 1930s.
