The Educational Meaning of the Experience of Parallelism in GasaLee, Joo-YoungIn this essay, I tried to examine the value of parallelism which is the essential formal feature in Gasa, in relation to the persuasive power of Gasa. Until now the education of Gasa texts has focused on understanding the meanings or the details of individual texts rather than appreciation or experience of the form intrinsic to Gasa, which is the way that tends to distort the actual state of Gasa Genre or estrange the whole and true education of Gasa. Parallelism can be defined as the correspondence of equivalent elements with each other in poetry. I've identified two important parallelism in Gasa;the expansionary parallelism and the oppositional parallelism. In <SANGCHUNGOK> and <MYEONANG-JEONGGA>, both parallelism are conducive to condensation of the message and buildup of the emotion. And in <GWONUIJIROSA> and <JAGYEONGBYEOLLGOK>, the oppositional parallelism plays part in the expansion of the paradigm of associations and thus the appeal to topos.In conclusion, it seems to be that parallelism in Gasa is oriented to emotional persuasion through condensation of the messages and buildup of the emotion and the appeal to topos. The students should experience the parallelism in Gasa, thus develop an esthetic sense of harmony and balance, and internalize the way in which emotional persuasion is made as their own literacy and culture. Then the whole literary education appropriate to the actual state of Gasa will be accomplished.
