Yogananda is one of the best well-known yogis in 20th C.E. He called his yoga system as Kriya Yoga. This system is also appeared in Ys. He said both are same or similiar, therefore it is meaningful what are analogues and what are distinctions comparing Yogananda’s Kriya Yoga with that of Ys. It helps to know the view of Modern yoga related to Classical yoga. People or groups who practice Yogananda Yoga have not revealed most of their theory and practice system to outside, so it is hard to know it’s details and understand it’s system. Thus I search it’s theory and practice method based on 「The Science of Kriya Yoga」 in ABY. Because he said it containes best explanation about his yoga. In case of Classical Yoga, I use Ys and YBh mainly, and Tv secondly. It is as follows that differences between Yogananda Yoga and Ys’ Kriya Yoga is. The former is completed system for liberation, while the latter is for beginners whose minds are disturbed and is subsystem for accelerating samādhi. Also in metaphysics, both have serious differences. Fundamentally, the former is theistic monism, whereas the latter is atheistic dualism. In the theory of evolution, both have more differences than similarities. In the view of human body, Yogananda sees it as microcosm with energy and magnetic field, while Ys takes it focusing on citta as mass of tattvas of evolution of Prakṛti. Therefore it is resonable for both to show differences in the details of practice system. In conclusion, the aim of Yogananda’s practicing system is union with Brāhman through control of prāṇa, while that of Ys is kaivalya of Prūṣa separated from Prakṛti. Yogananda uses same terminology, Kriya Yoga, with Ys, and proclaim that his yoga system is same or similar to Kriya Yoga of Ys. But both have much differences than samenesses or similarities. The reason why Yogananda persists relations his yoga system with practice system of Ys is that he intends to establish his legitimacy, leaning on authority of previous literatures. This kind of stream is in common in the Post Classical Yoga.
