The purpose of this study was to investigate gender differences in physical and relational aggression in preschool children, examines the relationships between aggression, language skill, and social competence and explores a subtype group of aggression. Subjects were 297 four and five years old children attending Korean day care centers and kindergartens. Peer nomination was used to measure peer rejection and acceptance. Teachers completed questionnaire that assessed children’s aggression and social competence. A language development scale was applied to measure children’s language skill. The findings show that the girls demonstrated higher levels of relational aggression that boys and that relational aggressive children demonstrated high levels of language skill and social competence.
