This study purpose to develop scale to evaluate the social-emotional competences of the children in the ages of 3–5 years old at the children’s educational institutions, and to validate its reliability and validity. The subjects were 600 children from 3 to 5 years old in Seoul and Gyunggi Province. Upon the study results, the scale for the social-emotional competences of the children consisted of 36 items with 6 factors including self concept, emotional inhibition and regulation, peer interaction, norm recognition, adult(teacher) interaction, and emotional recognition and expression. In addition, the results revealed  =188.456(df=55), TLI=.970, CFI=.981, NFI=.974, and RMSEA=.068(.058-.078) by the confirmatory factor analysis. The range of the reliability was .93-.87 in this scale. In conclusion, the developed scale in this study was confirmed to be appropriate as the scale to measure the social-emotional competences of the children in terms of reliability and validity.
