For the past 10 years since 2007, the perception and understanding of DongHak Peasants War in North Korea has not changed much compared to the past. For example, the North Korean historians recently continue to use the existing term, “Gabo Peasants War” instead of DongHak Peasants War. Perception also did not deviate much from the viewpoint of the “anti‐feudal anti‐aggression struggle”. And in the specific narrative, there is no description of the Peasants War in the Hwanghae‐do region including the present North Korea region, showing the perception that is limited to the existing Samnam area.
Nevertheless, DongHak Peasants Movement in 1893 and Gabo Peasants War in 1894 were distinguished from the redress movement of false accusation of founder in 1893 and the DongHak Peasants War in 1894 respectively, broadening the extension of DongHak Peasants War. The width of use of materials such as the “Foreign Ministry Records”, which is included in the diplomacy historical records of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, has expanded. There is room left to argue with South Korean historians in that the cause of DongHak Peasants War was not the imbalance of land ownership, but the tax abduction. In addition, they paid attention to the Czech Peasant War, and also explored the significance of DongHak Peasants War in the view of the world history. This clearly goes beyond the existing trend of thought that emphasized only the German Peasants war.
