Regional case studies of the Donghak Peasant Revolution have been made since the 1970s. The year of 2014 is the 120th anniversary of the Donghak Peasant Revolution. For such a long time, a lot of research on this movement has been accumulated. This study has organized studies that have been made since the 1970s,examining the outcome and tasks and prospects of these studies.
The outcome of these case studies is that each regional case study is suitably arranged according to the characteristics of the region concerned. Based on this outcome, this study presents the following tasks and prospects for future studies. Firstly, regions which have been excluded for studies of the Donghak Peasant Revolution should be surveyed, and studies of the suppression of the Donghak Peasant Army should consistently be made. Secondly, materials related to the Donghak Peasant Revolution should be discovered. Lastly, researchers of the younger generation should be fostered.
This is the brief outline of the study. I, a novice scholar in this research field would like to thank those who encouraged me to organize this opportunity.
