Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate how adults with mild intellectual disabilities pronounce nasalized and lateralized in word and to observe any possible errors in articulation of non-phonological processing word. Methods: One to one interviews were held with individuals with receptive language age between 10 and 12 who had normal consonant accuracy. The subjects were asked to read 30 words, and then the recorded data was transcribed verbatim and was analyzed independently. The analyzed data was categorized according to nasalized and Lateralized and articulation errors. Results: There was a high ratio of correct responses over wrong responses for each nasalized and lateralized, however, there was articulation errors in 12 subjects out of 15 who participated in this study. There were 6 articulation errors in words that called for /nn/ response in /n+l/, 4 errors for /ll/ response in /n+l/, and 1 error for /ll/ response in /l+n/. The words with /ll/ response in /l+n/ had the least articulation error and also had the highest ratio of correct responses among the subjects. Conclusions: When the result of this study was compared to that of the previous studies, individuals with mild intellectual disabilities appear to have a high ratio of correct responses more so than wrong responses. However, the occurrence of the articulation errors is inconsistent when compared to individuals without intellectual disabilities. In addition, they have articulation errors in words that individuals without intellectual disabilities have no articulation errors. Because of these, it can be concluded that despite the high accuracy of the correct consonants, individuals with mild intellectual disabilities have difficulty in pronouncing words with phonological processing. Therefore, separate education is needed for phonological processing on clinical practice site.
