This study brought up the questions that the actual secondary school instruction centered on textbooks or teachers start from the concept of curriculum subjects that confined to the contents of education. Reconceptualization of subject was claimed to improve this current classroom instruction. To develop this discussion this research have reviewed three parts. First, origins of subject matter of education and its` present state; the current domains of subject matter education and what kind of changes go through its` relevant subjects. Second, realities of relevant subjects of subject matter education: lectures of subject matter education related subjects meet instructional requirement of corresponding courses offered by ministry of education. Third, actual classroom instruction and reconceptualization of subject: present classroom instruction that are centered on textbooks or teachers. Regardless of degrees of conformity about outline program of instruction, current practice instruction that concept of subject set limits to only contents of education was brought up questions. To alleviate this, recognition of personal encounter, time and space was introduced as an key elements as a subject reconceptualization.
Throughout the discussion we found out followings. First, in spite of historical changes of domains of subject matter education, every teacher candidates takes courses on subject matter education related subjects. Second, teacher candidates often meet courses that do not meet instructional requirements. Third, concept of subject that the set limits to only contents of education that lead to reality of textbook centered or teacher centered instruction. In this research, needs of reconceptualization of subject concept was brought up to improve present classroom practice that is centered on textbook. In this reconceptualized concept of subject, not only contents of education but also time, space for instruction and recognition that students who are mutually beneficial personality are valuable factor for classroom instruction.
