The purpose of this study was to provide empirical data which promotes facilitation competency of lifelong educator by analyzing differences between awareness of the importance and the level of performance for facilitation competency of lifelong educator and determining the priority of educational needs. The measuring tools based on literature review were modified and supplemented. T-test, Borich priority formula and the Locus for Focus model were used to identify the priority competencies. As the result of analyzing differences between awareness of the importance and the level of performance for facilitation competency of lifelong educator, there were statistical differences in all 24 competencies. Also the needs analysis for facilitation competency of lifelong educator represented that active listening, supporting to share educational experiences, needs analysis, and promotion of various perspectives as the first priority competencies, and creating interactive atmosphere, systemic operation of programs, causing creative ideas, and integration of ideas as the second priority competencies. By developing competencies with higher priority through this study, it is expected that the specialty of lifelong educator and the quality of lifelong education might be improved.
