The purpose of this study was to draw implications from the autobiographical method of music majors for career guidance. Pinar’s Method of Currere was used to analyze autobiographical essays in existing research, revealing the following: the recovery of sense of identity and further therapeutic effects. Moreover, selecting and performing meaningful songs from participants’ musical lives provided a distinctive example of development for musicians’ autobiographical methods. However, the need for a careful design of the autobiographical method, taking into consideration each different individual or case, was observed. As most music majors begin their training, and choose their specialization or career at a comparatively early age, the autobiographical method can be a meaningful way to guide their career.
