<Maesanbyulgok(梅山別曲)> is Ganghogasa(江湖歌辭) written by Kim Jeong-Muk(金正默) who lived in Maesan(梅山) for about six years from 1778 to 1783. This work was embodied the beauties of nature around the Maesan(梅山) and the excitement of the scenery which the writer had felt during this period.
This work was divided into three parts that in the composition. Specifically it was made up of three paragraphs that expressed the motive of living in seclusion, embodied the life and writer’s excitement during the course of the four seasons, and the will which should be content amid poverty and taking pleasure in acting in an honest way in nature, or the attitude which treat living in easy to King. Therefore, we could find out that it inherited the tradition and customs of Ganghogasa(江湖歌辭) formed from the 15th and 16th centuries.
But this work was characteristic that strongly expressed the realization the order of things through the nature which change according to the season, unlike other works of Ganghogasa(江湖歌辭) that admired the seasonal beauties of nature. Especially, it was worthy of notice that the writer exposed Inmulseongdongron(人物性同論) concretely in part which expressed the feelings in spring.
In conclusion, as a moralist of Nak School(洛論系) he realized that the nature of human beings and things was the same while enjoying the scenery of Maesan(梅山) and its surroundings, and expressed in the form of Gasa(歌辭) the thought that humans should cultivate their minds to preserve human nature.
This characteristic, in the history of Ganghosiga(江湖詩歌), can be regarded as a distinct significance that <Maesanbyulgok(梅山別曲)> created in the eighteenth century has.
