The purpose of this paper is to analyze a misogynous killing and collective memorial gatherings happened at a space near the Gangnam Station 10th exit. As examining the meanings of misogyny, gender-based violence, and femicide from feminist perspectives, this paper explore the ways in which misogyny functions as a deep principle to (re)produce gender discrimination and androcentric society. Issues surrounding the ‘Gangnam Station 10th Exit of 2016’ and societal backgrounds of the seemingly ‘unexpected’ emergence of women’s visible resistance and mourning fervor are explored as well. Reading the incident as a symbolic signifier, I argue that the ‘Gangnam Station 10th Exit’ should be understood as a new wave of Korean feminism based on a feminist social justice project to reconstruct the Korean society toward more egalitarian, democratic, and sustainable one.
