This essay is to review the design process of extracting folk dance titles for the Korea Folk Art Dictionary and suggest the structure of the title list and descriptions for each title, to which the said design si applied, for the purpose of providing an exemplary manual for publication of the intangible art dictionary and intellectualization of the intangible art. First, the full scale design of extracting folk dance titles will be commenced based on the real understanding of the folk dance. The ratio and scope of the folk dance may be understood by recognizing the hierarchical status of Our Dance > Korea Dance > Traditional Dance > Folk Dance and comprehending such dance in the context of cross-disciplinary approach. Furthermore, the scope of title extraction will be established by reconstructing the concept by deriving key common words through investigation of the concept of folk dance, and the new type of taxonomy (draft) of which standard and object are definite will be prepared by deriving problems in the existing taxonomy. We propose formatting of title extraction for the folk dance based on the taxonomy (draft). That is to say, the design process of title extraction for the folk dance comprises 5 phases: 1st phase is to comprehend objects for the title from the contextual view; 2nd phase to investigate and establish the concept of objects for the title; 3rd phase is to drive a limitation in the existing taxonomy; 4th phase is to present the taxonomy (draft) for title extraction; and 5th phase is to format title extraction. We hereby organize a title list as Folk Dance > Acrobatic Tumbler’s Folk Dance > SeungMu.
