The basic perspective of <Sasang ui wolya> in this study is that the process of modernization by the subject of enlightenment is a main plot of this work, but in its inside there is a subconscious desire for returning to the past. Especially, this study intends to clarify the substance of author`s desire through the protoexperience of the author seen in the work. Dividing this work into two kinds such as ``text of Sasang`` as a form of presenting the distorted desire of the author and ``text of Wolya`` as a text of fulfilling author`s desire, I pursue the unconscious desire of the author hidden beneath the surface that emphasizes the accomplishment of modernization by analyzing the ``text of Wolya``. In this period when the author published the autobiographical works, the intended derire of the author is presumed to be the desire of self-justification trying to show that he originally had the desire for modernization in his inside. Therefore, in this work, the plot formed by the subject, Songbin is the plot of achievement for rational scientism that is the order of modernization. This intended desire presented in this plot of achievement can be read as the desire of self-justifjcation. However, in this work, there exists the unconscious desire that is not united with the main plot, different from the intended desire of the author or the desire formed by the subject. Its direction is toward the past before modernization and the hidden desire of the author is associated with the meaning of grandmother, meaning of Unju and a moonlight night. That is, the attitude of the subject who is unconsciouly afraid of the seperation with the grandmother or the attempt of overcoming moon that appears as the background of death and seperation with the eye of scientific rationalism are understood as the author`s unconscious fear of a moonlight night that represents seperation. This study sees that the reason why <Sasang ui wolya> was unfinished is the failure of the author`s intention that he tried to exclude ``text of Wolya`` with ``text of Sasang``. Therfore, the ultimate point of Lee Tae-jun`s works lies in the desire for returning to the past.
