“Han Wudi Nei Zhuan” is a folktale made with a material of the meeting between Han Wudi and Xiwangmu, which has been passed down from the late Eastern Han Dynasty and was arranged into the text in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. “Han Wudi Nei Zhuan” added the taoist thought and culture based on the historical record of “Shiji⋅ Fengshanshu”; not only the taoist thought but also thoughts of Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties are reflected in it. Records of Han Wudi’s fengshan ceremony and taoists recorded in “Shiji⋅Fengshanshu” became an important substructure of the plot and description of “Han Wudi Nei Zhuan”. Particularly, accusation between Han Wudi and a taoist and giving commandments reflect critical perception and idea of politics and sovereigns in the Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties, beyond the religious meaning. It is judged the immortal theory of Gehong who arranged taoism first and the idea of ‘idleness’ formed mainly by taoists in the Wei Jin Souther and Northern Dynasties had a great influence on it.
