The purpose of this study is to examine the aspect that Shiji(Historical Records, 《史記》) was established as an example of sentence creation during the Qing Dynasty, and to examine how this influenced the actual writing of sentences by writers. Therefore, I discussed Shiji, which has already been recognized as ‘Classic(古典)’ for a long time, in terms of ‘Canon(正典)’ or ‘Canonization(正典化)’, and through this, I reaffirmed the literary value of it in the Qing era. As a result, it was found that in the socio-cultural background of the Qing Dynasty, Shiji was firmly established as an example of sentence creation, and in the process, according to the cultural policy of the Qing dynasty the control of ideas and standardization of sentence creation were achieved.
In particular, this study focused on the role of Fang Bao(方苞), which is said to be the founder of Tongcheng School(桐城派). Therefore, first, through the Fang Bao"s sentences about Shiji and his Comments on Shiji(《史記》評點), we looked at Fang Bao"s perception of Shiji. In addition, by analyzing the sentences created by Fang Bao, we examined how the sentence theory, Yi-Fa(義法:Stylistic Regulation) Theory(義法論), which was introduced in Shiji, was implemented in actual sentence creation. In addition, it has been confirmed that he played an important role in "Canonization’ of shiji establishing the model of the sentence creation of the Qing Dynasty by having a great influence on the theory and creation of the sentences of Tongcheng School"s literary people.
