Various ethnical minorities appear in the early and middle works of Kenzabur? ?e. But these ethnical minorities were not paid to attention in the criticism field like postwar Japanese literature evaded a ethnic problem. In this paper, I put "Okuretekita seinen" which has not been discussed about "Korean" in the center of work study. I start from a simple question how "Korean" in the novel is drawn, and consider "Korean" representation in the ?e"s literature. The range of the study puts the early days and a Middle work in the field of vision not only "Okuretekita seinen". I clarify a characteristic in the ?e"s "Korean" representation through this and try to think about the reason why the existence of "Korean" did not attract attention of in ?e"s study. The works which "Korean" is drawn as a character repeat by about three patterns. These three patterns are work groups that Korean War is a motif of the novel, the work groups that reminding of the history of the colonial, and the work groups that drew "Korean" in the postwar society.
As a result of consideration, a large number of works made "Korean" the figure, but the ?e"s thought of the existentialism such as "authenticity" and "self-deception" removed the ethnic category called "Korean" by returning to the problem of the human being existence beyond the national border. And "Korean" in the novel worked as the representative horizon which ideated a Japanese young man after the war, and it was clarified to have functioned as the peripheral existence that made Emperor-oriented center cultural sphere an aspect pair. "Korean" was excluded from the subject of the study on ?e, and it is thought that "the Korean" has been employed as a supplement device to interpret ?e"s recognition after the war.
