According to Scheler"s understanding of capitalism, a capitalism is a frame of mind or a mind-set characterized by material value-preferences tied to the capitalization of quantifiable things, the tenor of modern capital society is one with an insatiable appetite for values of useful things, for the endless accumulation and acquisitions of goods and for efficiency and success gained at the expense of higher values-ranks of the Person. And in the society, things and entities of the world are experienced under aspects of profitability, capitalization and usefulness, then the future of humankind well can not be guaranteed.
In 1914 M. Scheler began to write a lengthy treatise entitled “The Future of Capitalism". In this essays first he stated his arguments against capitalism. Anyway in reviewing his arguments against capitalism, I can summarize it as follows: All material goods ought to be equally distributed among men, but no individual Person is an object and he possesses his own irreplaceable self-value. Because Persons are not morally equivalent, capitalism ought not to imply that Persons are equal in life. A Person"s self-value, conscience, and moral tenor·readiness to accept the order of values is not accountable to a capital society. In applying these principles of his value-philosophy to a capital society, Scheler also presented a frightening vista of the moral tenor of capitalism that he showed stems from a specific mind-set of modern humans. And then he continuously wanted to apply his value-philosophy to society in order to uncover society"s ills and propose possible remedies.
