In the spread and acceptance process, the value orientation of a literary work not only has relations with its own ideological content, but also is different from the ideological content. Some certain value orientations, such as aesthetic value of literature, emotional recognition value, life philosophical value, historical cognition value and so on, comes from the work itself; however, there are also some other values, such as political utilitarian value, commercial entertainment value and so on, which refers to non-literary utilitarian purposes that comes from spreaders and accepters. During the spread and acceptance history of A Dream of Red Mansions over 200 years, its value orientation is abundant for objective and subjective reasons: the subjective reasons refers to the knowledge structure or utilitarian purposes of spreaders and accepters; the objective reasons refers to the content abundance and social political background of A Dream of Red Mansions or cultural thoughts. As to these phenomena and reasons, practical and realistic analysis and discussion should be made; for it is of great significance to realize the multi-the values of A Dream of Red Mansions and avoid distortion of value orientation.

『홍루몽(紅樓夢)』은 중국 문학의 대표적인 작품이다. 간행과 동시에 조선, 일본, 베트남 등 여러 지역으로 전파되었다. 일반적으로 문학작품의 전파와 수용에 있어 그 가치는 작품 본연의 사상이나 내용과 많은 관련되어 있으나, 때로는 관련성이 전혀 없는 경우도 있다. 문학 · 심미(審美)적 가치, 정서 · 공감(共感)적 가치, 인생 · 철학(哲學)적 가치 등 그 가치는 전파자와 수용자 간의 비문학적 공리(公利) 목적에서 나온다. ?홍루몽?은 약 2백여 년 동안의 전파 및 수용 과정에 있어 다양한 가치들을 보여준다. 여기에는 주관적 원인도 있고 객관적 원인도 있다. 전파자와 수용자의 지적능력 또는 공리적 목적은 주관적인 원인이라 할 수 있으며, 『홍루몽』에 담긴 내용의 풍부함과 사회 · 정치적 배경, 또는 문화 · 사상의 흐름 등은 객관적인 원인으로 볼 수 있다. 본고는 실사구시(實事求是)의 정신에 기초하여 다양한 평론들을 고찰했다. 즉 여러 학자와 평론가들의 논점을 종합하여 전파와 수용 양상에 나타나는 현상과 원인을 분석함으로써, 가변적으로 발생할 수 있는 가치의 왜곡을 방지하고, ?홍루몽?이 지닌 다중적인 가치를 탐구 · 실현하는 데 그 목적과 의의가 있다.
본고는 『홍루몽』의 가치를 다양한 시각으로 재구하고자 했다. 그러나 본인의 졸필로 인하여 보다 확실한 근거 자료를 분명하게 제시하지 못한 미진한 점이 많다. 본고의 부족한 부분은 향후 좀 더 면밀히 연구하여 채워가고자 한다. 다만 졸작이나마 양국의 문화에 대한 이해와 교류를 통해 미래의 관계를 개선해 가는 데 미약하나마 도움이 되기를 바랄뿐이다.
