The formal education for the Tourism Interpretation major has been in existence for about 18 years started with two-year junor college program at Kyung 1-lee Hotel College since 1981. Since then many other junor colleges have rushed to establish the Tourism Interpretation program in accordance with the popularity of the society, though there has been no clear definition of its major which has brought to us the conflict of the major of English Language and Literature. This study is designed to aim at developing the curriculum on the basis of the findings through the analysis of the current tourism interpretation curriculum in 4-year colleges and of the questionnaires from the tourism and hotel specialists who have worked over 10 years in their relative fields. The findings say that the model curriculum is supposed to emphasize English language , particularly tourism and hotel practicably related English. Because the future working fields for the graduates strongly require English as a foreign language. Another phenomena in the model curriculum should be designed to fit the need of the industry v~rliieh calls for the tourism and hotel business related knowledge and practical skills. In this aspects tourism and hotel subjects should be focused along with the internship and computer science subjects. Finally, in the model curriculum the core and common subjects should be furnished to meet the goal of the department such as introduction of service, tourism marketing, and the 3rd foreign language (Japanese or Chinese) to cope with the globalization and internationalization in the 21st century. It is suggested that the curriculum of the hospitality education should strive continuously to incorporate the new information and the need of the industry.
