Over the past ten years, the consumers` demands of sport facility has exceeded their supply in our country and this resulted in a temporary boom in the industry. But as the consumers` judgment of value has variated and their requirement in the degree of service quality has become higher, the improvement of the service quality are now needed. So most sport facility are gradually weeded out by the law of competition when they do not have the competitive superiority in the service quality. And in the end the ones who are continuously progressing the service quality with exactly conforming the consumers` varying needs can be existed in the industry. Therefore the managerial objective of sport facility should be to improve the degree of service quality and to satisfy the consumers` needs of high quality of life. To achieve the goal, sport facility managers should practice a consumer-oriented management by exactly understanding the consumers` various needs and providing them the better quality of service. From this point of view, our study intends to consider the relationship between the sport facility and their consumers using the Exchange Theory and to propose explanatory alternatives for improving the degree of service quality of the sport facility. The Exchange Theory has been developed in the United States where the individualism and rationalism are prevailed. And the value system of our society are changing to western individualism and rationalism by modernization of industry and popularization of education. So, it seems that the applicability of exchange theory to our society is more and more growing up, especially when we set up research framework on the area of service quality of sport facility.
