Chunqiu Zuo zhuan is the interpretation of Spring and Autumn Annals compiled by Confucius. Zuo zhuan focused on praise of the good and punishment of the evil. And Zuo zhuan achieved the title of confucian classic in former Han Empire. What it means? The aim of this study is that. Zuo zhuan ex facie interpreted real politics of Spring and Autumn period as an adjustment of right motive and just violence. For this, Zuo zhuan adopted Zhou ritual as standard of yili(righteousness) and evaluated punishing the politics deviated from Zhou ritual as just violence.
But Zuo zhuan actually focused on moral sacralization of behavior by feudal lords who had right motive or not. Because Zuo zhuan intended to tune the real politics to just violence for justification of order by hegemon, pa. Maybe Zuo zhuan was designed to rationalize the political disorder and chaos of Spring and Autumn period. The ground can be found the fact which Zuo zhuan achieved the title of confucian classic in former Han Empire devoted all its energy to take the political legitimacy of emperor. Finally it can be evaluated that Zuo zhuan was systematic attempt for secretion of naked violence via moral sacraization.

공자의 『春秋』 편찬 의도를 권선징악(勸善懲惡)의 도덕적 해석으로 접근한 『春秋左氏傳』(『左傳』)은 한제국 시기에 이르러 경전의 위상을 획득했다. 그것은 무엇을 의미하는 것일까? 본 연구의 목적은 『左傳』이정치적 혼란과 무질서라는 전제로부터 새로운 정치권위로서 패자의 물리적 폭력사용이 도덕적으로 정당한 것임을 ‘의리’의 규준에서 추출하고, 이를 국가 간 관계로 확대하여 춘추시대의 전쟁을 ‘올바른 정치’와 정합하려는 것이었음을 밝히는데 있다. 『左傳』은 표면적으로 물리적 폭력을 사용해서 자신의 목적을 달성했던 춘추의 현실정치를 ‘의리’의 규준에 부합시켜 해석한다. 이를 위해 『左傳』은 기존 주례를 ‘의리’의 규준으로 채택하고, 이로부터 일탈된 정치를 폭력으로 응징하는 것조차 ‘올바름’의 동기에 의한 것으로 평가한다.
그러나 『左傳』의 해석은 실질적으로 행위결과의 도덕적 성화에 집중된다. 왜냐하면 『左傳』은 패(覇)를 정점으로 물리적 폭력에 의해 유지되는 질서조차 올바른 것으로 규정함으로써 지배와 질서의 유지를 위한 폭력사용의 정당성, 즉 전쟁과 정치를 정합하려는 의도를 내포하기 때문이다. 만약 『左傳』이 공자의 의도를 충실히 반영한 역사해석이라면, 그 과정에서 『左傳』이 행위결과에 대한 도덕적 접근이라는 방법을 통해 춘추시대를 여전히 예제와 종법질서의 규범이 작동했던 것으로 포장한 것일 수 있다. 바로 이 점이 『左傳』의 권위와 위상이 후한(後漢) 시기에 재고되었던 이유를 설명해준다. 따라서 『左傳』은 도덕을 성화(聖化)하여 그 저변에 깔린 폭력(暴力)의 노골성을 은닉시키려는 체계적인 시도이자, 향후 중국의 정치교의가 현실정치의 두 요소를 어떻게 교차시켰는지를 예단하는 지표이다.
