??This paper aims first to find the proper target terms related to Buddhist cultural heritage and second to translate the Buddhist architectural structures in Woljeongsa Temple, especially, the octagonal nine story stone pagoda, Jeokgwangjeon Budhist hall, Samseonggak(三聖閣)，and Sacheonwangmun(四天王門).
??In the cultural heritage of Weoljeongsa Temple, there are many Indian and Chinese terms: St?pa(塔; pagoda) in the octagonal stone pagoda, the Thangka(幀?: Buddhist picture) in Samseonggak(三聖閣) and Gangmogcheonwang(廣目天王; Virupaksha) in Sacheonwangmun.
??Translator must use the translation strategies properly in order to make the target language reader understand the cross-cultural text as easily as if it were originally written in the reader’s native language. Two kinds of strategies were given to resolve the asymmetry of the cultural elements like this:
??The further explanation strategy: ‘Jajang-yulsa, Buddhist Precept Teacher’, ‘Chilseong; Big Dipper deified from the Taoist’, ‘Gwangmogcheonwang; Virupaksha, is a guardian of the West with a treasure sword in his left hand and a red body’, ‘Joseongojeokdobo(朝鮮古蹟圖報; a collection of the plates about old Korean historic remains made during the Joseon Period)’. The hypernym use strategy: ‘Sari(?ar ra; relic of the Buddha)’, ‘Vairocana Buddha(毘 盧蔗那佛; the Cosmic Buddha)’.
??Finally, the Korean national government should financially support a system to make Korean Buddhist heritage understandable to all.
