The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between young children"s playfulness, fantasy-making predisposition, and behavioral self-regulation. The subjects of the research were 240 children aged 5. To measure playfulness, fantasy-making predisposition and behavioral self-regulation, "Children"s Playfulness Scale", "Children"s Fantasy Inventory", "Teacher Ratings of Behavioral Self-Regulation" were used respectively. The data were analyzed by Pearson correlation and stepwise multiple regression analyses. The results showed firstly that young children"s playfulness had positive correlation with behavioral self-regulation. Secondly, young children"s acting like hero, a subscale of the fantasy-making predisposition, had negatively correlated with self-control subscale of the behavioral self-regulation. Thirdly, young children"s humor was positively related with acting like hero from fantasy-making predisposition. Fourthly, it was found that social spontaneous, expression of joy, physical spontaneity and humor explained 47.6% of young children"s behavioral self-regulation. More specifically, social spontaneity, physical spontaneity, humor, expression of joy and cognitive spontaneity explained 40.5%of self-control, while cognitive spontaneity, spontaneity and expressive of joy explained 72.0% of self-assertion.
