Industrial relations of foreign invested companies in Korea, underwent a change with state of the times and process of labor and industrial policy.
Especially, after control of IMF, Korean present government's main idea for overcome foreign exchange crisis - attracting foreign investment - is continually spreading, not only capital investment but also various sides. - joint stock, company acquisition, and so on - But, this absolute policy of attracting foreign capital that forces labor to yield more than needs, and for reason of relaxes restrictions to make better place to do business, pressure the right to labor and twist the industrial relations.
Recently, foreign investors even claim to reduce basic labor right or to delete a part of trade union activity right - that have changed and developed in Korean labor practice.
From this point of view, foreign business's management policy or which nation's labor practice would be pressure to force changing industrial relations of foreign invested companies, and that could primary factor of changing Korean labor practice. Therefore, the labor world including FKTU(Federation of Korean Trade Unions), must plan to develop of labor movement more constructive, also show theory and direction - for make rational and developmental labor and management relations foreign invested companies -, and must find plan in trade union's position, which is center of industrial relations.
So, this article would examine into the present invest condition of foreign invested companies in Korean manufacturing industry. After that, compare and analysis its realities of industrial relations, and research how United States, Japan, Germany, France and each nations's labor and management relation practice have changed and developed in Korean companies.
