Beonja company(燔磁會社) was a manufacturing company that had produced china. Bunweon that was the predecessor of the Beonja company had been producing china of the royal palace for hundreds of years. But the Bunweon was converted into a Bunweongongso(分院貢所) in 1883, and the operating rights of the Bunweon transferred to a private Gongin(貢人).
Beonja company was founded in 1897. Capital of the company was 165,000Yang(兩), it was combined official capital and Gongin capital. The company was unlimited partnership(合名會社) that all partners(社員) were operating together. The company had made various china, living dishes, ritual dishes etc., and sold on royal palace and the market.
The head office of the company was in Seoul Gyanggyo(廣橋), and manufacturing factory was in Yanggeun Bunweon. The head office had taken charge of the capital management and china orders, Bunweon had procured production materials and manpower.
The president of the company was Kim Jong Han(金宗漢) who was the highest -ranking official. Partners(社員) were composed of 8 members(except president), were divided into Seoul parters(서울사원) who were the low - ranking officials and Bunweon partners(분원사원) who were Gongins before then.
Beonja company suffered financial difficulties, for the accumulation of un - collected money and deteriorating financial rotation. So the company borrowed the private money at a high interest(3~5% each month). The company made a large profit, but suffered from financial difficulties as before. Eventually Bunweon company had reorganized the partnership system, and converted to individual production - management system since 1900.
