Jigyusik(池圭植) who lived in Bunweon(分院) village was a householder of the ordinary house. He had lived from end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. At that time Joseon(朝鮮) had experienced many changes. Then Joseon had been transferring from traditional society to modern society.
Jigyusik"s children married in the traditional way. At that time Joseon government and the intellectuals recommended the ban of early marriage and new style marriage.
He had a strong influence on his children"s marriage. He did not communicate with his wife and children about the marriage
Intermarriage area(通婚圈) of Jigyusik"s children was mostly concentrated on Gyeonggi-eastern area where was not too far from his house. It is noteworthy that intermarriage area was formed along the Han River(漢江) that could be reached by boat. Hierarchically, his children intermarried with the family of the law-yangban(下層兩班) and common people.
Some of his in-laws(査頓) occupied business partners, and maintained a special relationship with them. The others maintained a formal relationship.
At that time Joseon society recommended new style marriage, But the wedding of country village followed the traditional wedding way.
