This paper analyzes some main issues and derives some policy implications of establishing FTA(Free Trade Agreement) between the Republic of Korea and the United States (KOR-US).
On February 2006, the Republic of Korea and the United States announced plans to launch the KOR-US FTA negotiations. The aim was to conclude a comprehensive, high-standard free trade agreement that will boost trade and investment between two countries, enhance the welfare of both countries'citizens, improve two economies'competitiveness in the Asia-Pacific region, and serve as an anchor for bilateral alliance in the years to come. Up to now, the KOR-US FTA negotiations has advanced five times, but it has been in a difficulty for different view on some major issues, and for opposition by some peoples to carry out a policy of the authority.
Forward, carry out a policy of the authority as the the KORUS FTA negotiations are desirable to follow a process of sufficiently discuss, and it has need of sufficiently study by the professional and prudential proceeding without attachment to the times in forward negotiations.
